Aamir in or out of Copyright Panel?

Human Rights and Development Minister, Mr. Kapil Sibal has marked a niche as he has come forward with several intriguing amendments in the education system. Off late he also concentrated on the Copyright Act of the year 1957. Since than the Law has seen very few amendments and the work is long overdue. Sibal formed a 10 member committee whose job was to discuss and suggest appropriate changes in the act. The members include some of the veterans of the film industry. These are Javed Akhtar, Mukesh Bhatt, Boney Kapoor, Prasson Joshi, Vishal Bharadwaj, Anjum Rajabli, Vishal Dadlani, Madhu Manthena & Bhushan Kumar

The tenth name on the list is Aamir Khan. But just a few days back Aamir had submitted his resignation. He had a tiff with Javed Akhtar. The issue that was being discussed there was about sharing the royalty of a song’s success. Aamir said that the success of the song depends upon how the star performs it on screen. Javed responded that his song ‘Papa Kehte Hain’ was a major hit even though he was not a star then. Aamir walked out of the discussion and said, “I have a lot to share in the discussion. But in this atmosphere I would not be able to do so.”

However, after a lot of hullabaloo, Aamir is back in the Panel and the committee is not really focusing on its real cause!
