Actor Nirmal Pandey Dies at the Age of 46
An NSD graduate, who marked his niche with articulate films like ‘Bandit Queen’, ‘Iss Raat Ki Subah Nahin’ and ‘God Mother’ died after long ailment on 18 February, 2010. His last project was ‘Kedi,’ a Telugu film.
The family that is left behind, wife and 2 kids say, that the key reason of the death was a cardiac arrest. Most often he played a negative role. He has also played some effective roles in Bollywood masala films like ‘One 2 ka 4’, ‘Pyaar Kiya Toh Darna Kya’ and Shikari.
Nirmal Pandey is the only actor who won the ‘Best Actress’ Valenti award at France in the year 1996. It was for his character of a transvestite in ‘Daayra’, a film made by veteran director Amol Palekar.
He shall always be remembered as a handsom personality. Those who know him pretty well also recall that he was a great singer. In the year 2002 he had launched an album ‘Jazba.’ Besides, he also directed a Hindi play written by Dharamveer Bharati.
